WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits

This one day course is a great starting point if you wish to learn more about spirits, or for those starting a career in wine or hospitality.

About the course

For individuals new to the subject, this qualification offers a hands-on introduction to the world of spirits. You’ll explore the main styles and types of spirits through sight, smell, and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavours and aromas. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

How much does it cost?

The course costs £160 which includes all study materials, spirits samples, tuition, examination and provision of service equipment during the course. Study materials are issued at the start of the course.


The exam takes place in the last session of the course. The exam consists of 30 multiple choice questions to be completed in 45 minutes. To pass you must correctly answer 70% of the questions. This qualification is Ofqual regulated.
