WSET Level 3 Award in Wines

This six day course is an intensive wine education course required for entry into the Level 4 Diploma. This course is for wine enthusiasts who have an already thorough understanding of wine and who perhaps already work in the wine and drinks or hospitality industries.

About the course

This course will develop to a high-level your ability to describe wine accurately, and account in detail for the style, quality and price of wines. Our experienced educators will assist you to develop your analytic tasting abilities through a carefully selected series of 82 wine samples. Successful students will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

  6. Access to our Online Classroom for the duration of the course including preparation videos

How much does it cost?

The course costs £625 which includes all study materials, wine and spirit samples, tuition, use of ISO tasting glasses, examination and postage.


The exam is assessed in two parts, which takes place in the last session of the course: A combined theory paper consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions and four short written answer questions. A tasting paper consisting of a blind tasting of two wines. A mark of 55% is required in both parts to pass. This qualification is Ofqual regulated.

Additional Information

This course is open to students who have passed the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits. If you do not hold the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits, but have obtained the relevant knowledge and experience, you are eligible to gain entry through successful completion of an online entry test. All classes are delivered in English therefore a good level of English is beneficial. You can read more about the Level 3 qualification on the WSET website.
