A 16 year old single cask release of the Islay blended malt known as 'Williamson,' a teaspooned Laphroaig.
From independent bottler A.D. Rattray comes this rather exciting single cask bottling of Williamson. A 16 year old Islay blended malt distilled 31.03.2005 and bottled 12.04.2021, matured in a bourbon barrel with 214 bottles released. Natural colouring and without chill-filtration of course. Cask number 800126.
'Williamson' is a teaspooned Laphroaig and the name is a nod to the distilleries manager during the 1960's, Bessie Williamson.
A.D. Rattray's tasting note:
"Nose: rich earthy peat, walnut leaf, lapsang souchong and sugar kelp. Palate: Salt and black pepper, almond, lemon and smoked oyster. Finish: Grapefruit and brown sugar are engulfed by an endless, pipe tobacco haze."
The A.D. Rattray Cask Collection is a limited release of single casks four times per year. The whiskies are sourced from all main whisky regions of Scotland then the spirit is rough filtered to remove any cask fragments before being bottled at natural cask strength, natural colouring and with no chill-filtration.
