Tomatin 12 Year Old
This higher strength version of the standard Tomatin malt was introduced in late 2014. All of the soft, fruity, easy drinking mellowness that Tomatin is know for, but with the intensity turned up a notch.
The 12 Year Old is the flagship of the Tomatin range. It's a fresh, light dram, with plentiful aromas of apples and pears, along with lighter peat and vanilla notes. The palate is silky smooth, with gentle maltiness, fresh fruity notes, and a light touch of oak spice in the finish.
At one time Tomatin was Scotland's biggest malt distillery, with twenty three stills pumping out enormous quantities of whisky destined for blending. Two changes of ownership and three decades later production is less than a quarter of peak output, and there is a much greater focus on the single malt itself.
