Lochlea 'Our Barley'

Lochlea is an independent, family-owned farm distillery in Ayrshire, who grow their own barley, distil and mature all casks on site.

Our Barley is their first core range Single Malt Scotch Whisky release. It is matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels, oloroso sherry butts and str barriques (shaved, toasted, recharred). The recipe was refined by Lochlea's production director John Campbell over several months and then finally decided via blind tasting by the Lochlea team.

Lochlea's tasting notes...

"The nose opens up with a burst of pear syrup and fruit bon bons, followed by hints of zesty marmalade and cinnamon. The palate shows the signature Lochlea fresh fruit and cereal, with a luscious golden syrup. Finally, it shifts to macadamia nuts, cream soda, and a lovely tasting orange beeswax note."
