BenRiach Classic 10 Year Old
Introduced in 2015, this is the newest member of BenRiach's core range, replacing the 12 Year Old. We're really impressed by the depth of flavour - it's a cracking dram!
Matured in a mixture of sherry and bourbon casks, this is a cracking Speyside whisky - well balanced, with fruit and oak flavours playing back and forth across each other. The spirit for this bottling has been produced entirely under the new ownership, and the quality is a testament to their skill & talent in whisky-making.
Our tasting note:
nose: ripe yellow fruit gives way to drying, mellow oak character, with a hint of char
palate: surprisingly full and rich for a whisky bottled at 43%, the honey-and-date notes are followed by a wee touch of drying sherry oak.
