Distinction II has been matured American oak (Quercus Alba) sherry casks in order to highlight the flavour profile imparted by both first fill and refill casks.
Producer's tasting notes:
Nose: The welcoming warmth of malt, vanilla and spiced oak, then orange and mint.
Palate: Soft oak, damsons, dark chocolate - and a rich, luxurious mouthfeel.
Finish: Almost endless [!] sherried oak, giving way to figs and golden syrup.
