A limited edition 10 year old expression finished in Spanish virgin oak casks, part of The GlenAllachie's Virgin Oak Series.
Part of The GlenAllachie's Virgin Oak Series, exploring the influence of different types of oak on the maturation of the whisky.
This particular expression is aged 10 years, matured first in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and then finished for approximately 18 months in Spanish virgin oak casks.
These hogsheads were made of Spanish Oak (Quercus Robur) sourced from the regions of Galicia and Asturias, in particular the Cantabrian Mountains, which have a cooler climate and greater humidity. Before being filled the wood is air dried for around 18 months.
The GlenAllachie's tasting notes...
Colour: Mahogany.
Nose: Lashings of orchard fruits, baking spices and sticky toffee pudding, with notes of brown sugar, glazed cherries and citrus.
Taste: Bursting with chocolate, coffee and heather honey, followed by notes of pepper, ginger and molasses, with banana and sultanas on the finish.
Natural colour. Non chill filtered.
