A limited edition 7 year old expression finished in Hungarian virgin oak casks, part of the distillery's Virgin Oak Series.
This malt was aged 7 years, matured first in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and then finished for approximately 18 months in Hungarian virgin oak casks.
The Hungarian Virgin Oak (Quercus Petraea) is sourced from the Zemplén forest in the mountains of northeast Hungary, near the winemaking district of Tokaj. Its rocky volcanic soil, along with colder climate and higher altitude, means that the trees in this region grow very slowly, creating a tight grain - a desirable trait for ageing spirit.
Our tasting note: bright yellow estery fruits (apple & pear), then the warm spices of oak; allspice, cinammon, chocolate. Lovely silky texture.
