The first release in a new "Coastal Series" of limited editions from Old Pulteney in Wick in the far north east of Scotland, this expression is matured in ex-bourbon casks and casks from the Charente and Charente-Maritime regions north of Bordeaux in France. These casks previously held Pineau des Charentes wine, which is made using grape must fortified with Cognac eau-de-vie, and is traditionally fruity, light, and balanced.
Old Pulteney's tasting notes: "fragrant and rich with sweet honey and vanilla. Caramelised hazelnuts and ground spices grow into an immense, lingering finish. It tails off into a broad sweetness, drying slowly towards a savoury finale of coastal minerality."
